Welcome to LMRA Art Club

Our Objective

The object of the Art Activity is to promote fellowship among its members, to promote development of artistic skills, to exhibit art works created by members, and to encourage members to utilize their talents for the benefit of the community.

All active employees and retirees of Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems and Affiliated Organizations are eligible for Employee Membership. Immediate extended-family members who are 18 years of age or older are also eligible. Annual dues: $25.00

Associate Memberships are extended to family members under the age of 18 who enjoy all privileges except those of holding office and voting.  Annual dues: $25.00

Guest Memberships are extended to non-employees who are sponsored by any person eligible for employee membership. Guest Members enjoy all privileges of membership. Annual dues: $65.00

Making Art                           

All activities take place in the Art/Bridge Studio which is located in the LMRA Fitness Center.  Generally,the studio is available to all members to make art, share ideas, and develop skills whenever the Fitness Center is open. Exception occur when classes or workshops are scheduled, or when the studio is shared with the Duplicate Bridge Activity, on Tuesday evenings and Wednesdays until 3:00 pm.

Special interest groups of members meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 3:00pm.  Help for all new would-be artists comes with the annual dues. New members are urged to participate in classes that are offered, as well as the Tuesday and Thursday groups.  All members are available to share their experiences with new comers.

Facilities and Materials

The Art Activity provides easels, tables, a light table, a drying rack, and has a library of art books, magazines, and videos. Members provide their own materials and personal art equipment.

Classes and Workshops

Special instructors are engaged periodically to conduct classes and workshops.  Dates are announced. Fees vary with class duration and content.  Although new membes are encouraged take advantage of these opportunities, our members are always willing to share their knowledge and experiences with aspiring artists.

Showing Art

The Art Activity conducts two members only juried art shows each year, in April and October with awards for works in all media.  The shows are displayed in the Brazos Ballroom in the LMRA Main Clubhouse during the week following the judging and an awards reception.
